Fluorescence microscope - Modified asphalt quality control core detection method for road materials

2026-09-05 · Yikmo Optics technical notes

In modern road engineering systems, modified asphalt, with its excellent high and low temperature stability, fatigue resistance and durability, has become the core cementitious material to improve the service life of roads and reduce the maintenance cost of the whole life cycle.

The YIKAMO optical FL3GB fluorescence microscope technology is used as a detection tool for the production and application of modified asphalt. By capturing the characteristic imaging differences between the modifier and the asphalt matrix under fluorescence excitation, it can visually present the dispersion state, phase structure morphology and interface fusion effect of the modifier, providing technical references for the formulation optimization of modified asphalt, production process control and road performance prediction.

Different from the conventional physical index detection methods such as penetration degree and softening point, it can only reflect the limitations of the overall performance of the asphalt. Instrument karmo fluorescence microscopy can directly cut into the micro-phase structure dimension of the modified asphalt.

In the whole process quality control chain of modified asphalt, fluorescence microscopy technology is applied from laboratory formulation research and development to on-site construction and acceptance. At the formulation development stage, researchers can compare the dispersion effects of different dosages of SBS, SBR and other modifiers in the asphalt through fluorescence imaging, and screen out a ratio scheme that takes into account both performance and cost;

In the industrial production stage, the fluorescence detection results of each batch of products can be fed back to the production control system in real time. The operator adjusts the shear rate, development time and other process parameters to avoid the outflow of unqualified products. In the construction and acceptance stage, the staff can refer to the fluorescence microscope to determine whether there is an insufficient amount of modifier, the modification effect is not up to standard or even the ordinary substrate asphalt is impersonated as modified asphalt.
